Simon and Garfunkel, the concert in Central Park (15)

Lyrics

When youre weary, feeling small,
When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all;
Im on your side. when times get rough
And friends just cant be found,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.

When youre down and out,
When youre on the street,
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you.
Ill take your part.
When darkness comes
And pains is all around,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.

Sail on silvergirl,
Sail on by.
Your time has come to shine.
All your dreams are on their way.
See how they shine.
If you need a friend
Im sailing right behind.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind.

  • I love this song. Thank you for the lyrics.

  • Where would this world be without S&G? can someone tell me because i cant even imagine....

  • His voice is indescribably beautiful

  • @ChicagoSouthDan its about being a good friend to one who is in trouble..which is what we should all do voluntarily without the tyrannical force of government

  • @makollo You forgot Steve Gadd on drums

  • @johncorsino It's been played quite a bit over the years and I never heard of anyone banning it. And why would it be banned if it's about heroin addiction? There were plenty of songs about drug use when this song came out in late 1969. And to take one line and say that the song is about heroin addiction seems like a stretch. You can read drugs, homosexuality, or anything else into a song if you want to.

  • sooths the soul...i just close me eyes and let it wash over me like a summer afternoon sun. one word description? serenity

  • @johncorsino This sounds like an urban legend to me. I'm not sure when this came out, but I remember it on the radio when I was a little kid in the early-mid 70's.
