I hadn't read any of the comments yet, but screaming in my head at 2 minutes into the video was emergency tracheostomy. Now at 3:30 I heard the nurses were on top of it, but the doctors were not. Horrible. I am a student nurse completing my transitions in a 2 year diploma program. I have had at this point 16 weeks of clinical experience in ICU and the first and most important thing we learn is protect the airway. I truly am sorry for your loss at such gross negligence.

I am sorry about you tragedy. I also lost my wife to medical malpractice. The very short version is - she had kidney failure - up for transplant - but existing gum disease - all teeth extracted pre transplant - fluids given for a person of 165 pounds and normal kidney function ( she weighed 100 pounds and had E.S.R.D. ) - resultant pulmonary edema - myocardial infarction - hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy ( 9-14 minutes unresponsive ) - coma for 34 days - death @ 31. Married 8 years - no children

They should have trached this patient after 4 minutes of a difficult intubation, especially after using fiber-optics etc, unprofessional MD's. This should not happen with an elective procedure at all. Very Sad indeed. James B Certified RN Anesthesist.
