Dan Crane is a journalist, author, musician, and retired competitive air-guitarist. He is the author of To Air is Human: One Mans Quest to Become the Worlds Greatest Air Guitarist (Riverhead Books, 2006), and the co-star of the award-winning documentary, Air Guitar Nation.

His numerous television appearances include Late Night with Conan OBrien, the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Last Call with Carson Daly, VH1s Free Radio and 100 Best Hard Rock Songs, MTVs Next, CNN, and Fox and Friends. He also gives an air guitar lesson on the Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure Twentieth Anniversary Special Edition DVD.

After a brief post-college stint as a pastry chef under Bostons Todd English, and a few years producing educational software, Crane went on to pursue a life of journalism and rock. As a journalist, Crane has written about food, music and culture for the New York Times, Elle, Slate, the Los Angeles Times, Esquire, Blender, Paper, Nylon and Real Simple.

Cranes recent profiles have included Mariah Carey, Lindsay Lohan and Carrie Underwoord (for Elle magazine), Jack and Kelly Osbourne, skateboarder Rob Dyrdek, and Mila Kunis (for Nylon).

This summer, under the auspices of the US Air Guitar organization, Crane will embark on his third cross-county trek of the United States on a forty-eight foot tour bus in search of Americas greatest air guitarist. For the 2009 air guitar season, hell once again be the host and emcee for sold-out competitions from New York to Los Angeles, as well as in Finland.

Dan lives in Los Angeles with his air guitar, and his favorite air groupie.
