Washington Times reporter Kerry Picket: However, when I asked the Senator from Rhode Island what he meant by describing those who do not support the bill as "aryan," he responded "No, I didn't say that....again, pay attention to the speech."

According to the transcript above, Mr. Whitehouse did say what he seems to be denying. Perhaps he should pay more attention to what he says on the floor.

  • The one thing he said is right. The health insurance industry will die. A few million will be out of work and your taxes(assuming you pay taxes) will skyrocket. Congrats!

  • "I didn't say that. You should listen more closely." What a numb nuts, and then the ARROGANCE to tell the report, who had him by the balls, "I'll stand by the speech." What a dick - every one of these far left nut jobs.

  • Sheldon Whitehouse is an honorable man who uses his mind and his voice to speak the truth. I, too, find certain factions (why the marked increase in militia membership?) very disturbing, and it is no secret there are racial undertones is much of the rhetoric of the right. The rhetoric of the right seems to thrive in a fearful atmosphere. Why not learn more about the issues and try to have an open mind? Facts should help a great deal in deciding what to believe.

  • I'm not a fan of Obama I just don't see the part where he called anyone racist...

  • What a repugnant bastard this corrupt politician is. He himself has used the N word to describe black people and now he gets up in front of the senate and makes that crap up? What a cock juggling hypocrite he is. This is why we need a clean sweep of both houses. To get rid of filth like him and his liberal cohorts. They give us Democrats a bad name.

  • Sheldon is right on point with his comments. Good for you Mr Sheldon for being brave enough to say it.

  • "...it is unbearable that Barak Obama should exist." It is unbearable that Barak Obama's policies should exist.

  • Pro-Israel money was also a factor in Rhode Island, where Sen. Lincoln Chafee, the Republican chairman of the Senates Middle East subcommittee, was projected to lose to Sheldon Whitehouse.

Chafee was a tough critic of Israels settlement policy, and blocked the nomination of John Bolton who is very friendly to Israel as ambassador to the United Nations to protest a planned settlement expansion. Pro-Israel contributors boosted Whitehouses bid.

  • He gave a fine speech and simply stood by it- he denied nothing of the speech!

  • Lobbying reform now!! And take private money out of campaigns so the lawmakers can actually spend time making laws instead of fundraising and kissing asses to those that helped get them there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No more coruption!! Keep going Obama, don't stop now!!! Get the bastards out!!!

  • This speech was soooo good! It is always amazing how right wings can take one thing, cut it, take it out of context and show the world. Man, get informed for once. Listen to the ENTIRE speech. It was exceptional!!
