Preventing a new tattoo from scabbing is difficult, but it is not a sign of infection and should not be picked at or touched during the healing process. Scabbing is natural part of the tattoo healing process and can be explained further from an experienced tattoo artist in this free video on body art.

@ifuckinghateyou12345 scabbing occurs more on parts where you have bled, scabbing does not mean you have a deep wound, some people can bleed more easily than others, i heard that when a tattoo scabs alot, the advice is to discontinue the treatment and leave it, do not apply anymore lotion.

someone please be intelligent enough to reply to me? I know all of you are saying that scabbing is fine, but it bother's me a little because supposedly, scabs are the after math of the deep wound therefor should only look brownish?
But when i apply lotion to my tattoo(very gently), large amounts of black-reddish parts are coming off which is getting me frustrated since my tattoo is black and red in color so this only means one thing.
the ink is coming off. what the hell am i supposed to do??

Your tattoo will not fade from scabbing. It's a natural process. Just chill out! All of mine have scabbed, and they all have turned out fine, as I tried to touch them as little as possible when they were healing. If you follow the aftercare suggestions of your artist, everything will be fine. And yes, it will itch, but no, DON'T SCRATCH IT!
