Looking For Rosey - this is a trailer for a PBS documentary. Looking for Rosey is the true story of a person who became the most unique person to nearly all who knew him. A superstar who emerged from the South and through his intelligence, hard work and vision of a better world-- becomes a scholar, an athlete, and an inspiration to those whose lives he touched. His flash across the Universe ended at the age of 22 when he dies in a senseless auto accident. Newsweek devotes a full page story entitled, Rosey: He Was the Best of Us. Recognition and praise pour in from around the country. Yale posthumously names Rosey it's 1984 Valedictorian and establishes a Roosevelt L. Thompson prize which now is given annually at Commencement. And the entire city of Little Rock, not to mention Arkansas, mourns the death of its fallen son.
Twenty years after his death, Little Rock names a new library after its hometown hero, yet, outside of the Yale and Little Rock communities, Roseys legacy remains mostly unknown. This film tells the important story of Roosevelt Thompsons life and of the impact he had on the lives of those who knew him. He inspired many people to do positive things with their lives that they otherwise would not have done. We hear from a surprising and colorful gallery of people who knew Rosey best: Bill and Hillary Clinton, Senators Dale Bumpers, Mark Pryor and David Pryor, Roseys family, classmates, teachers, coaches and people with whom Rosey worked and played.

Together these interviews paint an inspiring, funny and insightful mosaic which brings Rosey to life. We hear how they deal with his unexpected death and of the affect his life had on them. We learn of Roseys positive works and how he influences others around him to be catalysts for change. We view the racially-charged world Rosey grows up in, which includes the famous challenges of the Little Rock Nine who integrated Little Rock Central High School in 1957, and we see how Rosey exemplifies the good that arose from that ugly chapter in our nations history. We also witness how Roseys life distinguishes him in ways which will amaze the audience: how Rosey actually uses racism as an important part of his growth and his power to affect change. Ultimately, we view how Rosey's achievements provided an important milestone in the evolution of our countrys racial and political history.
