Did you know that Bob Nolan wrote the words to this song as a poem, when he was about 16 years old....It was not set to music until some years later?
-
Over a 100 artists have recorded this song in the past 60 years...Quite a tribute to Bob Nolan who wrote and originally recorded it with the Sons of the Pioneers....

Hey thanks for this -- what a voice and what a talent and he had a long but low-key quiet career -- there's a youtube of ''Eddie Dean Day'' proclamation from a grateful City of Los Angeles ( we love our real cowboys ).

Just saw one of his Westerns on Dish - had forgotten what a great singer he was. This is the version of Cool Clear Water that I remember as a kid. Didn't realize he lived such a long life. Hope it was a happy one for him.

Very nostalgic. I lived next door to a drive-in movie theater as a child in the early
50's and Eddie was one of my favorites.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to relive a great era!
