Disastrous ice storm, Arkansas 2009

In January 2009, my town of Mountain Home, Arkansas was hit by the worst ice storm in our history; I think about 80-90 percent of our electric company members were without power for days, some for many weeks. My house, since it was our own lines down, was without power for 11 days! Lots of chainsawing to do for years to come!

we were hit extremely hard here in the bootheel of missouri. no power for nearly a month. it was no fun at all and i hope it never happens again. very spooky listening to trees snap for a week straight and transormers exploding.

yikes! my house was without power for 11 days... and one day in particular was the craziest, the night I walked back through a battlefield of limbs across my long winding driveway to the back of the property, to get into my house through the smashed porch roof, to lie in bed without the normal sounds of electricity, to hear the constant ghostly crashes in the woods all around me; gave me the same feeling as when you are under a tornado warning.

yeah, a cat. 5 ice storm! I used transparent PVC roofing from Home Depot...it really lets alot more natural light into the house!

That's right. A real "windfall": turning branches into firewood. hehehe.

Was Ron okay through this storm?

Yep, Ron Ron was nice and toasty warm inside, thanks to the mega fire I had going in the fireplace! (in one of the pics you can see the smoke from my chimney)

in weed cali we hade one every year i miss them in in illinios now i fuckin hate it

This ice storm sucked. We were without power for weeks. :(

in michigan we get those every few years. no power for about a week or two they suck. we have kerosene heaters that are industrial meant for a barn and put on in the house. lucky for me I found out I could cook on it kinda. enough to heat water to make soup.
