"Venus - The Bringer Of Peace"
Arrangement © 2008 by ROB ASTOR
Composed by Gustav Holst
From the Forthcoming Album AD ASTRA
The complete counterpoint of "Mars - The Bringer Of War", "Venus - The Bringer Of Peace" is as beautiful as "Mars" is aggressive. Gustav Holst wrote his PLANETS SUITE from 1914 to 1916, as World War I ravaged Europe. "Venus" escapes from the horrors of war, whereas "Mars" dives right in. "Venus" is the glimmering light of hope in a world so filled with darkness. The version I've recorded is relaxing, dream-like, ethereal.
Recently, I recorded Holst's entire PLANETS SUITE in brand new settings (as evidenced in this track), along with original material inspired by his music and other compositions I feel fit very well in his solar system spanning concept. The album is entitled AD ASTRA (meaning "to the stars"). Look for it in the near future!
