After a long wait and considerable contemplation, I've finally decided to upload Tegan and Sara at Webster Hall on November 19, 2007 in New York City. 16/21
Last night was the first time I've actually been able to sit down and watch these videos in the seven months since the show, because I've been unable to even think about them without getting angry, much less look at them, and had decided early on they might never see the light of day.
But time passed and with two very awesome things having happened since then. The first was the second Tegan and Sara show at Terminal 5 on May 12, 2008, which was a far superior venue and overall experience. The second was True Colors on June 7, 2008, another five star experience; however, for which I didn't get usable video and simply replaced them all with an image. After this I had a light bulb moment and thought I could do the same with these videos, or at least some of them if they needed it.
Before replacing it all from the start though, I thought I might as well bite the bullet and watch the show in full while I cut the clips up for upload, and while there was definitely a lot of wincing and later faceplanting... whatev, letting it go and uploading the show as is.
Three points of interest that contributed to the delay:
1. You will see my camera get jarred an unreal amount during this show, because I ended up next to the only three people in the audience who were probably wishing very hard that they could be at a Tool concert and wanted to mosh, but instead ended up at a Tegan and Sara show and were stuck doing something between moshing and dancing.
2. Webster Hall is not a good venue, as far as sound quality goes. One thing about my camera is that above all, I will have audio that reflects exactly what it would sound like if you were actually at the show. Webster Hall was not built to handle bass, it is not my camera. While it doesn't overtake the songs, it does bother me as far as what I expect to expect to hear at a live show.
3. I didn't realize until last night just how chatty people at this show were. Now, I know people are going to talk at concerts, it's to be expected, but at points it can completely distract from the singing/talking. Not much to say about that, but I was pretty amazed by it when I was going over these.
= recording I was not very pleased with. But here they are now, anyway.
" you're adding it, you're plussing it..............
...........equal really f*cking loud...."
they are so awesome and so adorable!
