The people who think that Willy Wonka is far off from Joker territory don't know the look and personality of either character too well.

There's no denying that he was great in the role, but I believe that in this large world there are others who could do it as well. And if you think about, now I'm not trying to discredit his performance, half the battle was with the script written by the Nolans, but Heath did an amazing job pulling it off.

He can act gothic (Sweeney Todd) but is not gothic himself, and can play non-gothic roles.

I don't think Depp would have to play it exactly the same as Ledger's Joker. I think he could be similar, but at the same time make it his own. Here is a quote from Heath Ledger himself: "Theres a bit of everything in him. Theres nothing that's consistent. There are a few more surprises to him."
That shows that the Joker doesn't need to be exactly the same, or consistent all of the time, I think that Johnny could do just what I said. Be similar to Heath, but make it his own as well.

Have you ever seen SECRET WINDOW or SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET? He played a creepy psycopath in both of them. The great thing about Johnny is his range. He isn't just a Jack Sparrow, Willy Wonka kind of an actor.

there isn't one who can play him the same way as heath ledger did. sure some other actors could play the joker, but it will never be like ledger's joker.

Ledger was an amazing actor but his role can be redone. I said the same thing you said but about Jack Nicholson when I heard Ledger was playing the joker.

I think Johnny Depp is an amazing actor. but in the next movie they should focus on other villains. And Heath did an awesome job i dont think people would like anyone else doing it.
