Using a few pictures, Google Sketchup, the measuring tools in Google Earth, and my understanding of typical construction dimensions I recreated the home that I grew up in.

  • This is outstanding. Has to be a California subdivision? ..architectural wasteland complete with power lines beyond. Love it! Looks like Piet Mondrian painted your garage door!

  • Right you are!

  • what a house thief ! haha

  • What does that mean?

  • @multidstringtheorist

It is a walk through not an architecture tutorial...its charming and shows how much you can do in SU and only SU so the houses could be components. Aren't most neighbourhoods or hoods as i should say init...made that way.

  • Thanks For checking it out, Keith. Actually, It's a time machine. I used SU to recreate the neighborhood I lived in as a child. Conjured up mostly from memory. It's not an architectural tutorial, true. It's typical early 60's cookie cutter middle class American subdivision sprawl that lulled us into what we are now. And you've read in the papers lately how that's all turned out.

  • This really is pretty damn cool

  • Hello!when I work in 3d models. I have difficulty because the drawing becomes to heavy to work in it and make to make the rendering. If I put trees it becomes almost impossible. Do you have a powerfull pc to be able to do that?I work in revit but i've heard that GS as the same difficulties.

  • im curious how did you make it available to walk in.. i made building with googe sketchup but if i put a door on it closes the room off

  • good work
