I will always be drawn to Kern...I have gone many times and also have camped there as a child well past hospital flats..I have roped walk that river with many family members..I still remember the broken old damn sign..111 dead ...lol..sure its many more then what I remember since I went there from the late 70's thru the 80's and early 90's
..but I had respect and will take my children there regardless

Delta, the Kern River is alive an well. As a member of the KCSO Search and Rescue, I've pulled my fair share of people out of that river. It is the 2nd most deadly river in the US and number 1 for fastest rate of decent. STAY OUT, STAY ALIVE.

The Kern used to come down through town until I don't know, 20 years ago or so. Now it's just a dry river bed. Up through the canyon it's still pretty swift and people die all of the time.
Merle is from Oildale, North east Bako.
This is one of my all time Hagg favs.
