Dharan-Dhankuta from the eyes of Kirat

When visiting Nepal, visit Dharan, visit Dhankuta. Dharan and Dhankuta lies in eastern part of Nepal. The closest airport to both place is at Biratnagar. But there'a already a plan that regional airport is going to be build in Dharan very soon. Dharan is also the gateway to such towns in eastern hills as Dhankuta. Dharan today is a bustling city. Dharan is a well plan, well layout city compared to other cities in Nepal. It is also the most cleanest cities in Nepal.

Dhankuta which is about 17 Km away from city of Dharan is the regional center of eastern Nepal. It is quite a large town with good views, mild climate and plenty of interesting walks in the surrounding areas. The town owes prosperity to the fact that it was a major recruiting center for Gurkha regiments of the British Army. Many former Gurkha soldiers with their families are now living in Dhankuta and Dharan, after having retired from their service in the British army and others from the Indian army.
