@doctorsound16 For trance music productions Sonar is absolute crap and is not fit for purpose. The boxed version of X1c production suite at the bottom of my trash can will testify to this.

@Autumn6 - I've been using Sonar 8.5 for well over a year now and it never crashes no matter how many plugins I throw at it. I'm not sure what is going on with your computer... As for industry standards, Sonar is one of the top DAWs in the industry and is used by many TV/Film/Video Game composers.

Another thing, cakewalk sonar IS a Professional platform that's why famous producers as Luigie Gonzalez use it so to people that talk crap like some here, IT'S NOT ABOUT THE PLATFORM, IT'S HOW YOU USE IT! So learn some techniques first, do a proper system setup, choose your platform and stop moaning

This video is misleading, pro tools
Le IS a stripped down version, only 48 tracks, cannot work on frame mode unless you buy dv toolkit, no omf aaf support unless you buy dv toolkit and so on, I know because I use it every day, oh and it'a not THAT stable, it crashed on me hundred of times on mac pro and pc, so...

If you DO go with Pro Tools, be advised; Dont buy a computer first!! PLEASE check the PC and MAC compatibility chart on the AVID site and make sure you select an approved computer and model!! Also the hard drives and even the proper reccomended OS for a given version of Pro Tools is essential. To see proof, check out the video rant called Pro Tools Product Review by David Sabine. Dont end up like this guy! I tried to help but he just wont listen. He just gets mad at me.

Well explained. I would go as far as to say You DO want HD, but you dont NEED it;) But my experience is that even HD doesnt work that great with Audio Instrument plug ins anywhere near Logic (for example) does. I think that is an ongoing consensus amung us PT users. So if you us a lot of virtual instruments it PT might not be the best choice.

Just got finished using SONAR. It crashed 5 times in 2 hours.
-
and btw...use Protools for a month and then use Cakewalk. You'll find just how unstable Cakewalk is. I got so tired of looking at "fatal errors" after adding plugins to tracks I nearly shot myself in the head.
-
Cakewalk will never be the industry standard. Ever. Not until it is as stable as Protools..and it isn't. I use both on a regular basis....but I (and everyone else) know that when I'm on a deadline, I'm going to straight to Pro-tools. SONAR crashes at least once a day. Protools hasn't crashed on me in almost 4 months.

It was a realy good advice for me. i am working with sonar for long time , more than 15 years, when it started with cakewlak 1.4 but i was living in iran and it was so popular there, but after i moved to canada i found out everybody are using protools and i was in two ways to buy protools or not and which version i should buy, but your video gave me a good clue to make my proper decision. thanks
by the way may i ask you where do live?
I really think your explanation was perfect. For the people watching this video, I have to say that Pro Tools is just the best DAW that I have tried.
