  • Tatsache! Hor mal Lotte Lehmann und Richard Tauber zu!

  • how sad this short distortion at 1.44...

but i must say; thebest versions are feom rene fleming, and this is even topped by leontyne price. if you want to enjoy leontyne´s voice, try to hear verdis rather unknown opera "ernani". there is a version from december 1961 on the metropolitan opera. i was lucky enough to have this on tape when it was broadcast years ago

  • Unfortunately Armstrong is well past it by this date...

  • she's my aunt and amazing. end of story

  • @Andreasberlin35 Her voice was very beautiful 20 years prior to this, when she was singing things that suited her better. I saw and taped her in "Community Concerts" after her competition wins and she was glorious. Also saw her in Boheme & R&J... Perhaps I can get the tapes transfered and do some uploads. When I heard her just a few years later screaming Minnie I knew she was "gone" for me...

  • There are much better versions of this duet which is to be blamed on Armstrong and her limited voice and lack of colour. So the hyper-symbolic element of this duet is completely missing.

  • As always. Jerusalem rulez.

  • What incredible power SJ's voice has - wonderful, thrilling. Karen is good too - beautifully mellow, mature sound.

  • Jerusalem is not James King, truely not! But where ist this Video available?

  • I heard the Paris Opera DIE TOTE STADT on the internet last weekend and it sounded gorgeous. Robert Dean Smith as Paul was amazing, and Stephane Degout and Ricarda Merbeth were extremely good, too. How did the production look in person? Did you like the acting?
