Van Wiliams Photos

Van, what can I say? .. Just a terrific friend, not just for me, but for all he knows and few does he not like .. these photos are some I have collected over the years, I collect everything:( ... Van did many series .. I knew some of those he worked with, Bob Fuller, Lee J. Patterson, Richard Long .. of course, Bruce Lee, who LOVED to tease me .. and many more .. but I would never have met Van had the pilot he did, about same time sold, the one he adored, I put clips of it up here .. I worked for ABC and "The Green Hornet" was one of our shows . so I was on that set . more than the others at Desilu Culver . GREAT Crew & Cast .. Do you see Bob Fuller with Van doing an episode of GE Theater? .. I doubt I have these in 'proper order' . but close:) .. maybe? .. He & I have remained friends all these 40 or so years .. I see him rarely since he no longer is in this state, when he can, he does, as you can see a couple of shots, we had lunch with some of his Deputy Sheriff friends & dinner with others, as well .. he came over to my home with some of 'the guys & their girls' as there was no other place to go til he left for home . thus the photos outside my home .. He helped with my computer, as he sat on the floor with it . .did NOT find that photo .. we do stay in touch .. Did you know that his wonderful wife, Vicki was .. well .. the Series "Gidget" was born because of Vicki & her wonderful water boarding with a new type of board (at that time) she still water boards and loves it .. she and Van are a wonderful & happy couple .. I have the magazine where Vicki's article & photos..should have scanned a photo or two..but .. next time .. If you don't know Van personally .. you are missing a truly great person/friend .. How lucky I was that "Search & Destroy" did not sell .. The GREEN HORNET/Britt Reid was not cast until all others (as I recall) were cast.. in those days the networks had little to say about things .. so ABC had NO clue whom the GREEN HORNET was going to be! .. I remember how elated they were when they were told it was going to be Van Williams! ..
His credits, I think, are all up on imdb.com .. I loved "The Careakers" .. did not see the Mary Tyler Moore show he was on .. I worked in casting on that show . but for a very short time as I had another job to go to .. and I really did not like casting .. had done it several times .. I hope you enjoy the photos and pretend, if you are not, you are a good friend of his ..
Van had an electronics business . I still have that clipping . someplace . and used his mobile to office gadget on a series .. I used to visit him there for a bit . then lost track and when I was on a series where we decided to have a 'kind of' walkie talkie from the Camera truck to the office .. somehow, I called Van's place .. I do not remember how . but I did and we spoke to his 'head guy' .. when he heard it was me .. he grabbed the phone and .. there we were again .. in touch .. The ad I put up was in one of the trade papers . I saved it . perhaps that was how I called there . I don't know .. after the series lost track again .. then he began doing a few autograph shows and I showed up at one .. think we have never stopped staying 'in touch' from that point on ..
The Shower Scene . wow that was a biggie for him . the photo with Tony Perkins & Jane Fonda in the front . he was in the back .. he was uncredited in that! .. "Tall Story" .. Not sure I saw that one ..memory:( ..

Van Williams is one of the best looking guys to have ever set foot in front of a camera. It doesn't seem possible for one person to be THAT good looking!

How neat . was SO hard to get visitors on the Green Hornet Set . they all wanted to go to BATMAN . there you had to have a Bat Pass and could only stay for 1 hour .. Tues. / Thurs. were only days visitors were allowed and you had to be someone to get on ANY of the sets ..

Besides "Green Hornet", I liked him in the aborted "Big Valley" crossover "Rimfire." Too bad that show didn't sell. I think he did a very good job there.
