In October 1935, the Italian army invaded Abyssinia. First graphic pictures of Mussolini's troops entering the sacred former capital of Abyssina Aksum following the fall of Adowa.
The advance was led by Eritrean troops.

You're right about the British, after initially betraying Ethiopia by not letting it buy weapons to defend itself from the moment of the shock invasion by Italy in 1935 decided to finally assist it

But the troops used were predominantly Ethiopians along with a large minority of British troops.

Also, Ethio was not colonized, it's capital was occupied under continual revolt by the citizens.

Italy occupied some European countries for even longer.

It gets even sadder though...not only did Italians support the invasion of the oldest Christian nation on the planet...Italian government financed & supported the neighbouring Islamists (like Somalians & small Yemen tribes) to attack & destablize Christian Ethiopia.

2 million Ethiopians died in 1935-1941, while Islamists in the region grew

Today, Ethiopia should hve been 95% Christian, instead the demographics is beginning to shift toward Islamists

    So sad.

  • @grottoification1

    that was in 1896.

Between 1920-1935 Italy double crossed the oldest Christian nation a 2nd time. Secretly built up weapons for 13 years while Ethiopia, now part of the League of Nations trusted it's ally was again, under a 2nd shock invasion.

THis time it was even worst..not only did Italy build up weapons for 13 years while Ethio focused on infrastructure, the League of Nations betrayed Ethiopia by banning it from buying weaposn to defend itself

    So sad.

  • @grottoification1

Adwa, just like '35 was in favour of Italy

Both times, Italy signed a treaty of peace with Ethiopia (1890 & 1920) while secretly building up weapons to make a shock invasion. In 1896 Italy invaded with new weapons it acquired with trade between it's Euro neighbours...many of Ethiopia's imported weapons were blocked due to Italy attacking from our Redsea ports

When 1 army is equppied with cannons/guns the other army with mostly swords/guns will need more ppl

  • @3023301

While Italy was piling up weapons, including outlawed weapons by the League of Nations (which Italy was a part of)...Ethiopia was peacefully building it's country with roads...hospitals...& other infrastructure

When Italy shockingly broke it's treaty with Ethiopia & the League of Nations in 1935 by invading, Ethiopia was NOT ALLOWED TO BUY WEAPONS to defend itself.

Ethiopia had to use the few weapons it had in reserve to fight another christian nation, so sad.

  • @fezzorama

what is "simian" I don't speak tilian

    lol@you getting angry....so pathetic

if Italy & Italians were smart...they would have allied with us Ethiopians to ward off the true threat...Islamism, instead Italy secretly piled up it's weapons from 1922-1935 (13 years) to attack the oldest Christian nation on the planet, Ethiopia..at the same time Italy supported the Islamists Somalians to attack us as well.

So sad...we could have been great allies.

  • @EriPages you simian scum!

  • @BufordtheBrutal Look up in wikipedia. Was considered Italian victory.Occupied country and leader was sent in to exile.I believe building 4,000 kilommeters of roads and infrastructure does constitute colonization.

  • @BufordtheBrutal You are actually mistaken. It was the British and french forces that came to the aid of Ehiopia that defeated the Italians and that was because WWII started and the troops where recalled to fight on several fronts.Army was spread too thin to maintain Ethiopia.Ethiopia was occupied for nearly 6 years.

  • @EriPages lmao and how many people have the ethiopians killed "illegally"??
