Why the obsession with speed with these vehicles? If they were truly trying to be efficient rather than racy they would pay attention to the fact that the power required to overcome aerodynamic drag increases with the cube of the speed.

The arguments about weather are not reasonable. Motorcycles and mini-cars have shared the roads with all other types of vehicles. Winter driving simply means studded tires. This was the conventional wisdom when Smart cars debuted.

now multiple that by all the american on the highway and see what happens

The greedy, greedy insurance cos will be a major factor in the adoption of these in the US. The car must be affordable and the insurance must be discounted drastically.
