Lucky guy, Ian. I could spend hundreds of hours outside his door just for having a talk with him.

Bert is one of my favorite guitar players and singers of all times.

Just listen to Pentangle's 'A woman like you' and 'I loved a lass'.

Fantastic voice, beautiful open tuning guitar.

    Maybe one day...

    Take care

  • Those of you criticizing think you are music experts, yet don't seem to understand the concept of arrangement. John's version is a jazz-tinged and free form ARRANGEMENT of the song -- he is not trying to imitate Merle Travis or Chet Atkins. If you are not as into it as the original, fine. And if you think the point of music is to imitate someone else perfectly, then you are just sad.

    Thank you for your comment.

Personally I think guitar players understand better guitar styles, specially if they are not influenced by speed or other such entailments.

Bet you play guitar, do you?

I have a deep respect for MUSICIANS, including of course Tommy Emmanuel even if my preference goes to the toothless, ping pong ball-nails British Master.

I share those videos with the ones who like good music. If you don't like it, tell us why but please don't write stupid comments.

  • @VanDeFields Thanks for responding Van, and thanks for posting the great videos for us to see! Take care. Oh, yes, I am a guitar player. I love the styles of the old blues masters, & Jorma & Bert & John.

  • @muhrvis

Just like me. I'm a big fan of Ry Cooder too. See his album 'Jazz' or his style in playing 'Great Dreams'.

People like you are just welcome in my channel.

    Acoustic guitar forever.

    Take care.
