Dinnertime at Casa de Mico

Handfeeding a baby pygmy marmoset. Mico was hand reared at the Rare Species Conservatory Foundation, www.rarespecies.org, because his mother died giving birth to him. He is now grown up and housed in a large, outdoor enclosure with a female marmoset named Trixie. He is not a pet, and is part of a cpative breeding program for pygmy marmosets, which are threatened in the wild.

Pygmy marmosets are incredibly intelligent. They have an extremely large brain for thier body size and live in complex, social family groups. Mico is now 5, and lives with hsi mate, Trixie, at RSCF.
