January 26th, the day the first fleet landed in Australia and so started Australia Day.
A day for celebration and spending time with friends and family. Many Australians head to the beach being a public holiday or have a BBQ in a park. I joined some friends in Broadbeach on the Gold Coast in a park next to the ocean. We have parks running alongside the ocean.
This year was a bit subdued. You cannot drink in public and normally the police do not worry as this is an Australian tradition to celebrate Australia day, but this year the police were everywhere checking bags and esky's and taking everyone's drink. Maybe the police were having a party that night.... So my video is different to most years celebrating Australia Day. All the empty grass areas would normally be filled with tents and people having a party.
This shows what many of us do on Australia Day, drink and have fun and celebrate.
