In this video series I show you how to make a tap and screw jig to make your own large wooden screws. In this part I talk about how to choose and dimension your screw's diameter and thread pattern.

  • You never talk about finding the angle for the piece of metal in the screw die. How is it determined?

  • @davidaglenn I talk about it in the next two parts.

  • What size is the router bit?

  • @TheRussianMercenary I use a standard 90 degree router bit. About 1/2" in diameter for 1/2" deep. As long as the bit is as wide as the distance between each tooth. That is one reason why I recommend going up to a 1 1/3 TPI thread pattern because the largest common 90 degree router bits you can find only go up to 3/4" in diameter.
