The Mississippi River oil spill occurred on July 23 when the Tintomara and the barge being towed by the Mel Oliver collided. The barge split in half, spilling much of its cargo into the river. It is estimated that about 280,000-420,000 gallons of oil actually spilled into the Mississippi.
The spill affected the drinking water in 4 parishes,including Orleans.
All because Captain Terry Carver left n00bs in charge while he did god knows what else off the vessel.Riding dirty,Captain?
This clip was filmed August 10,2008 by the U.S.Coast Guard who had to help clean up the mess.
The US Coast Guard in 2003 was absorbed into the Department of Homeland Security.
