Take a trip down memory lane with DCG as we revisit one of the best handling hot hatches of the 90's... the 'Peugeot 306 GTI-6' and find out whether this 'analogue' car can cut it in a 'digital' age?

  • Thank you for a great post, this and your subaru legacy post made me subscribe a long time ago. the peugeot being one of my dream cars i would love to read the magazines you mention, i can see one is performance magazine, but what are some of the others that have made hot hatches comparisons in which the peugeot was the winner? thank you

  • @mrtrevorreznik0 Thanks for watching and subscribing. I'll have to go and search through my library of 90's car mags. I'll get back to you.

  • They have the exact same engine and mechanicles, and the ralllye version is virtually the same weight so it's quite hard to fathom how someone would 'rate' the ralllye but 'hate' the gti6 it was based on! Nevertheless I respect your opinion.

  • lol. I hear you. The 205 gti, especially the 1.9 version, was indeed a little 'beast' but overall I think I prefer the 306. Not quite as raw as the 205 but overall it feels much more accomplished and stable at speed. Thanks for watching.

  • Alloy wheels were actually 15" not 16" - l owned one from 1999 :)

  • @DreamCarGarage1 thank you so much, if its too much of a hassle please ignore the question ^^. thank u

  • i use to own a GTI 6 and it was sooooo much fun for the money, they are IMO a bargain for the level of performance you get, i especially agree with what you said about having an M3 evo and not being able to go any quicker than your friends GTI 6 down a B road, i have a Z3 M with the s50 (321bhp) engine and because of its RWD snappy nature wouldnt push it half as hard as my old GTI 6 which inspires so much confidence on the limit unlike the unruly Z3M, even now it can still worry modern hatches!

  • GTI 6 is crap. Rallye is the one to have

  • @tmh983 pug claimed it would take 8seconds to get to 60 in actuality it was 6

so compared to alot of cars it was brutally quick it would also top out at 145.

and very few things will keep with it on track or a back road

  • do a test on the 405 t16 please

  • 'the acceleration is brutal' LOL compared to what?
