I thought the cello playing was magnificent, not too domineering and aggressive like many other interpretations I hear. Brahms needs to be passionate, romantic, and elegant, which both musicians accomplished very finely. And nothing like Bernstein to bring out the nuances that make this such an incredible piece of artwork. My dream would be to hear Heifetz and Rostropovich play this with Bernstein conducting at a bit faster tempo.
lol what a dumbass...how can you refer to Kremer as whipped cream? I guess you, hakmirchai, would be some dried up poo in comparison...brahms double doesn't get much better than this!
Magnificent so far. Remarkable soloists and the great Bernstein to hold court. This piece truly needs incomparable soloists to bring it off. Not just great fiddlers but remarkable artists. I find the tempo just a bit slow--not the soloists, but Bernstein's tuttis.

Kremer and Maisky are kind of like steak with whip cream. I'd like to hear Maisky play it with a fiddler with a guernari.
