Too much mixing of the races produces this problem. No, it is not immoral, but it just does not lend itself to preserving original cultures. Native groups often quickly lose their traditions.
@cherri7 know "Latin" is a whole other subject. Not all Latin are Hispanics, But all Hispanics are Latin. What I mean by that is Latin Europe is the birthplace of the Latin culture. Spain, France, Italy, Andorra, and Portugal make up Latin Europe. the former colonies of Latin Europe in the Americas are know known as Latin America. oh look up the Latin Union its HQ in Paris
@cherri7 and why do they speak Spanish? because they were once part of the Spanish Empire, and again at Latin America in wiki on the race entry you will see that the majority of the Hispanic countries races are Mestizos or Mestizos half white. it the Spanish blood that makes one hispanic
@cherri7 Hispanic is deeper than language friend. and the US has no business defining my Ethnicity, since they cant even tell the difference between skin color and race.
@cherri7 Not many, some Mexicans are black mixed they are mostly grouped in "la costa chica", Guerrero, Oaxaca). Sorry I would not know much about the US census since I dont live there. but here in Spain we only consider Hispanics to be only Whites and Mestizos, but then there are Nationalist you believe only Spaniards are Hispanics
@EricVZLeon I also read that Hispanic is a term used in America and that outside of America people will say Cuban, mexican, and etc.....So I dont think that someone can have a Hispanic last name since it really has nothing to do with a particular race or language.anyway the topic itself is just too confusing lol.
@EricVZLeon I saw your other comments and Aj2471 is right about Latin america.I got this in wikipedia:''Latin America refers to territories in America where the Spanish or Portuguese languages prevail: Mexico, most of Central and South America, and in the Caribbean"
@EricVZLeon Weird that i just found out that Hispanic means people of Latin america or Spaniard descent and my parents country fall under latin america so i guess ill have to put down Hispanic if i had lived in america even though i dont speak spanish lol.I use to think that hispanic meant people who can speak and who follow spanish culture whatever that's suppose to be lol.
@EricVZLeon many mexicans are also mixed with african.i dont think there are census like that in canada but i dont understand why Caribbean isnt another option for your census.my parents are from the carribean/middle america and my background is similar to a typical mixed hispanic( some arent mixed with south asian like me) .hispanics have different mixture so not all of them have Spaniard in their blood.
