It's called a carrier sheet. It's got a sticky surface just like a post-it note where you can stick your paper on. When you're using the machine to die-cut material you have to use a carrier film because otherwise you'll damage the machine.

Actually, there is some kind of vacuum cleaner inside. It sucks down the media to keep it perfectly flat. A lot of the larger ink jet printers are also using this method nowadays.

I've seen those at CHA trade shows and they "appear" as though they may work ok with the CE5000-40 (CraftROBO Pro). This cutting plotter is pretty forgiving. Some claim to make their own carrier sheets.
