in the early 90s there was big scandal when he confessed on having an affair on his wife. Most of the community shunned him and wouldnt have anything to do with him so then he became addicted to drugs.But he finally gave his life over to christ again but some people still hold a grudge. So that's why he asked if he was sure they wanted him back.type in "emotional michael english interview" in the search and you'll see an interview where he talks a lil about giving his life to christ again

You know this was hard on Michael the day he went back home...afraid of what he would face unknowing that the love his FAMILY was strong ...Open Arms and open hearts.  and I am SO VERY proud of him and PRAISE GOD for how he has moved in Michael's life. GLORY!

Did anyone ever answer the question of which video? It's a VHS from 2000--"Good News." Isn't it wonderful that we're still being blessed by it? I continue to appreciate Bill Gaither's work to preserve the old-timers' music.

I am so thankful to God , that Michael has come back into the foal. His songs have carried me through some hard times. I love to sing the ones i can,in worship of our Lord Jesus Christ. God bless you greatly Michael!

Vestal was Micheals Aunt , He's Sam Goodmans son. I wonder is you don't sing as well as Micheal would you be welcomed back as easily?

in his book, he writes that he has that very handkerchief in a glass case with Vestal's signature with it hanging on a wall in his home..she was like a "mama bear" to everyone :)

From the response of many in the "Christian community" you would swear that Michael was the first child of God who fell from Grace!!! God never left Michael alone--The Good Shepherd always seeks for the sheep who leave the fold. This was an awesome testimony to the love in the family of God and the joy when a prodigal is found and comes home. Thank God there are those who still stand on the welcome mat with the Father!
