Photos of the Ahwahnee Hotel and Timberline Lodge. These hotels were used as an inspirational template for the Overlook Hotel sets used in Stanley Kubrick's The Shining.

I missed my chance to see the Alwahnee. I visited Yosemite this month but only found out today that it was the inspiration for the Overlook. I'm so annoyed with myself. It's one of my fav movies. I really should have known this before now.
I knew about Timberline being the exterior but was unaware the interior was inspired by a real hotel. I knew it was a set in the movie.
