first of all, nobody claims that it heals anything. it is an amazingly effective pain reliever and also can be used for it's "side effects" basically giving an appetite to sickly people who would otherwise NEVER have an appetite. also helps against nausea, which is also in acute cases very debilitating.
and YES you can get these benefits through SMOKING it just like any other way of consuming this plant.
