100 Classic Book Collection is a computer program published by Nintendo and developed by Genius Sonority, which was released exclusively for the Nintendo DS on December 26th 2008. The program includes a hundred public domain works of literature. Despite the title, many of the included works are not novels, but plays.

100 Classic Book Collection features 100 books stored into the DS cartridge. The player is required to hold the DS like a book and is able to adjust the text size. A bookmark feature allows the player to mark their place in the book, as well as resume from that point on restart of the game. Several of the works included are Othello by William Shakespeare, Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens, and The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux. Currently, 10 extra books are available to download through the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. The game allows a reader to search for books in a number of different ways, for example by genre and length. Also, players can access introductions for the books, and read about the authors themselves.

  • Why do young people always assume that something is "boring" when something is considered classic? I'm 16, so don't patronise me. This game/book collection is AWESOME. Not boring. DO NOT stop reading when you reach a certain age because it's considered "uncool". You'd be missing out on some genuinely legendary stuff, like the books in this collection. We have GOT to get teens etc. interested in reading stuff like Austen, Dickens, Hardy and Shakespeare! Who's with me?

  • Agreed, completely.

I've read Wuthering Heights numerous times, whilst being the mockery of my friends, but I love it.

Along with Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, etc.

And I'm 14. So if you stop reading, in my opinion, you're stopping your life.

  • I'm 16 and I'm going to be 17 this year. I LOVE reading. And some of my friends LOVE reading too. I especially love charles dickens, he is freakin' awesome! There are just some girls/boys in my class, who are to slutty/party to read :P they said, and I quote: ''We've got something better to do than reading.''

  • @jema223 have you tried resetting your birthday on the ds to something around1980? how old are you anyway?

  • @Montork scratch that. i just finished my 5 book "around the world in 80 days" and the ending is fucking epic.

  • i love this umm can you call it a game? but it is very good and its perfect for long cor rides

  • when i click read book or guide it shows 2 paragraghs of that i cant read the books because of a certain theme and it shows a click the touch screen to continue then it goes back to main menu please help

  • @readingfcfan001 It's ok. Those idiots can be dumb all they want.

  • @readingfcfan001 i've read all my life and now at 23 im going to try reading some of the classics i didn't read yet. its going to be hard because a lot of the older works are written in the style of the times, meaning to my reading sensibility these books are very dry. ive read 15 of the oz books and the time machine, but im excited for this game. because its the kind of game you keep forever for it never runs out of content.

  • i bought it but cant do thw wifi it annoys me so much because i dont really like any of the games on it?!

  • @MrU53r Yeah, that would be Suh-weet!
