The Egyptian port city of Damietta has long been known for manufacturing furniture.

Recently, however, due to the increasing prices of wood, many workshops have gone bust as they are unable to afford the basic component of their industry.

They cannot raise the price of what they make as the economic slowdown is affecting people's purchasing power.

Al Jazeera's Rawya Rageh reports from a village outside Damietta.
