The NBA made the right move by not giving the Suns any preferential treatment to appease some whiney fans. A'm'a'r'e' said it best in this video when he said "I don't know much about the rules." That's on him and his coaches. Suns fanboys will never admit it but you can't go through life blaming everybody else for your own ignorance-fueled mistakes. If you don't want to get suspended, follow the rules.
