No, I just don't think it's a good thing if something happens, because if something happens, and you have to buy a new one and it would cause a lot of money, and the apps you have, if something goes wrong, you still have your serial number and you can reinstall it!
You can run xslimmer through everything on your hard disk. I run it right after a fresh install.
