  • Hi Tim. Great videos . I wanted to share my router trick with you and your viewers - I use my router as a chisel when I hang a door. You may already know this trick. adjust the depth of the tool to the thickness of the hinge. score your hinge lines with a blade ( that is Tim's trick ) then clean away the wood inside the line. Take your time. Routers can be powerful and go where they want. After that clean up edges with a sharp chisel, there will not be much.. Hope this was helpful - Tino -

  • Yes, I do the same thing for the door latch keeper plates on the jamb.

  • You can't use it to connect trees to the internet then?

  • Not too well. I have tried, but I keep getting static when the router spins up to full power.

  • And dont forget - there are two types of routers - the one like Tims you adjust then work with and a "plunge" router that you adjust but the bit is behind the plate until you move the lever to plunge it down into the material. There are different types of but materials too just like there are for blades in saws - carbide, high speed steel, etc. Routers are to wood only, metal is done with a milling machine.

  • Thanks. For safety you should always wear hearing protection and remove the ring from the fingers and watch from your wrist. Nice work though, routers are so great.
