So, its an urban myth that the producers originaly wanted a Geordie accent for the Daleks? "Why aye, tha's a gooin' ta be exterminated, man". Truly frightening, particularly as the Daleks were supposedly going to have 'Kevin Keegan' bubble perms as well.

How lovely to see and hear Peter Hawkins, one the first Dalek voices. What a brilliantly menacing and maniacal sound he gave to the Daleks. I'm sad to learn of his recent death. But what a legacy! And what a remarkable coincidence that film footage of one of his early Dalek masterpieces, "Evil of the Daleks," should now show up on this site (see "Evil of the Daleks Redux"). Wonderful!
