so did the MYVU CRYSTAL work well for fpv?

They are ok.. I have a problem using normal hand held binoculars, as my eyes are pretty far apart.
I had a similar problem with the myvu crystals and "fixed" them by heating the plastic and re-aiming the two displays.

Cool. How are you controlling pan and tilt?

I moved the throttle and rudder off the left stick and onto the two levers on the sides of my 9303. I use the left stick as the pan and tilt stick.
I also added an aileron -> rudder mix to help with coordinated turns.
