Step Four: Overlook any differences. Friends and enemies are the same. Pray that all beings have what they want.

Step One- think about somebody else and how you can help them get it.
Step One B: Plant a karmic seed to help them get what they want.
The prerequisite is to carefully observe others to discern what they want. This is a great first step that already makes you happy and puts you in the right place.
Step two: Pray that the other gives up the cause of their suffering. Pray to take away their problem. Pray they stop planting the seed of their own problem.
