Thousands protest Gitmo anniversary in front of the White House

Today marks the ten year anniversary of Guantanamo Bay opening its doors and in Washington DC thousands gathered to protests the prison. Many Americans feel Gitmo is a thorn in America's side and is violating the rights of the hundreds imprisoned there. Obama vowed to close the prison but was met with opposition. Here is some footage of today's protest.

It's great to see Americans protesting this evil place. Such a place has no right to exist. Sexually assaulting, and physically abusing people to the brink of death is not patriotic...It's not fucking humane, it's not even animalistic, it's just goddamn evil. It is also a big national security threat, If a foreign government kidnapped your family, raped, then tortured them for years in a place you could never see them. Would that make you want to kill them?

It's bizarre to go to these events and see the wide variety of age groups and backgrounds. Yet all the media, seem to want to portray these events as products of the young people only. As if it is a coke ad and they are selling a product with stylish young girls. It seems like it's meant to diminish something that is very important when this happens.

@zapproowsdower At least half of those anti-torture protesters are also occupiers. We have specific demands and positive solutions. People who listen to us rather than watching fake news manufactured by the corporate media know it. If you weren't at Freedom Plaza when our super committee of economists spoke, and don't participate in our GAs and direct actions, maybe you need to get out more and follow real news like RT, Democracy Now!, WikiLeaks, Al Jazeera, etc. Life is for learning.
