Coverdale (and his effect on my appreciation of Deep Purple the whole) is so diff than gillian ...that objective decision was impossible that day

Quite obviously, by todays' standards, there is nothing to match this kind of rock music, masterpieces can only be made once, and this was one such occasion. Those were times when you really had to have raw talent, genuine inspiration, and an inborn driving force to be among the best. You were not created by studio manipulators as todays' cosmetic musicians, being commercial products aimed to generate profit before talent... which is what MTV and similar 'rubbish' stations are all about.
