Heard that someone made a gran turismo/need for speed rom using the mario kart 64 rom(changed the graphic).

Ok, I have a ps2 controller with a usb adapter for my computer but project 64 won't let me map any of the directional buttons, could you please explain why I can't do this and tell me how to fix it, or direct me to a site or video for help.

You have to turn down the deadzone to like 20%. Sorry if it's not called deadzone, I havent used it in years. :)
