This was the 2nd time I fired up the Port - Nov 1 '08. Little painting and cleaning did wonders eh? At this point I had done NO mechanical repairs at all other than greasing, oiling and checking things over for safety purposes!
This is a part of a video I did so I could watch over and over to spot things that needed attention and plan repairs. Turned out to be very valuable! She obviously has a few problems, but nothing unfixable . . . or really even unexpected. She'll heal nicely given a little more time and affection.
PS: Just found out this evening she originally came from the Enterprise, Illinois area, just north of Fairfield, Illinois, about 45+ years ago. Anybody have any memories they'd be willing to share????

Port Huron called it the "Power Valve". The Woolf Tandem Compound has 1 valve body for both high & low pressure cylinders, steam from the boiler goes UNDER the valve to the high press cyl, the exhaust steam from hi press cyl goes into the steam chest OVER the valve and then supplies the low pressure cylinder. The Power Valve vents some high pressure steam into the chest, increasing pressure to the low press cyl. U can see it @ 3:45 in this video: "Port Huron Steam Engine No. 6637 100619c"
