@cvenaglia Well the higher mountains are south of there, so the river has to flow north to go down hill. It goes north to Livingston and then flows east/north east for a long way until it joins the Missouri river

That is a bit west of the center of the state on the south border with wyoming. It is at the north entrance to the yellowstone park. We were there for 5 nights while we tried to see as much of the park as we could in such a short time.
