He emphasizes that the safe injection sites enable heroin addicts at great cost to the user via a controlled government sanctioned injection site but ignores the fact that in the absense of such a site comes the endemic of "crack/heroin houses" that affect both the communities in which they establish themselves and the user. Personally I see the safe injection site as a much better alternative to the latter. Unfortunately advocates of prohibition obscure their rationality with reprehension.

@The3rdPlateau I've heard great things about Ibogaine too, but then one of the scientists said one thing that rang very sadly true: The drug companies won't take the time to turn that into a pharma medicine for one reason: You don't have to take it for the rest of your life, and therefore the profits aren't worth the expense. They WANT you on something you need to take forever. Very very sad.

@snazzywiggles ok...he was talking about heroin, not marijuana

cost effective vs traditional stance always looses in governments that have printing presses for their budgets

I wonder if Dr. Murray realizes that methadone withdrawal is far worse, and lasts far longer, than heroin withdrawal. Putting heroin addicts on methadone only guarentees that they will be on opiates for that much longer.
Ibogaine is the way to go if you want to get off of opiates for good. If you're not ready for that, then free needle exchange and free injection sites are by far the safest, most effective, most reasonable, and in spite of all that, fortunately, most cost-effective way to go

lol, rAmen to that, brother.
I really liked how passionate Doctor Ethan Nadelmann was though (the guy talking outside) - the more people we have like that, the sooner The War On Untaxed Drugs will be over.

Illegally established Catholic gangs impose unlawful constructions, illegally continued in all courts and administrations, as house-divided-gang-farming policies, which are ALL actual violations of the commerce clauses, all applicable laws, all applicable class laws, and CBPC 17200-17220, see CBPC 17206, for city attorney liability in California, to prosecute class violations of Unfair Business Practices Law. Fatal undiscovered liabilities stem, from neglect, since 1/1/2005. 360.yahoo/bobgnote

Ok Murray, so maybe they should not be doing heroin. But they are off the streets. That means everyone is safer. The alternative is to have them all over the streets and stealing to get money to pay for the only thing on their minds.

People are still missing the point, this is about the government taking away your right to choose. Our civil rights are at stake here, along with our gun rights and many other rights we take for granite. It doesnt matter if its good or bad for you. It a matter of government control in a "free " society.

thats why I don't vote in national elections
I love how he unwittingly damns himself at the end by saying "Do you want the government to have a leash on you". Well, telling me I, as I thinking human being, cannot decide to grow a plant in my back yard and smoke it seems like you're holding a HUGE leash on my free choice. We are not truly free.

It is a shame the taxpayers are sustaining such monstrous tyranny. Stop it.
