Green tea ice cream or Matcha ice Matcha no aisu kurīmu is a Japanese ice cream flavour. This flavour is extremely popular in Japan and other parts of East Asia, and almost all ice cream manufacturers produce a version of it, including foreign vendors such as Häagen-Dazs and Baskin Robbins. The name matcha comes from a specific type of green tea used in the Japanese tea ceremony. Green tea ice cream is also sold in monaka form. It has been available in the United States since the late 1970s, primarily in Japanese restaurants and markets, but is currently moving into mainstream availability It also can be homemade.

  • There is Haagen-Dazs green tea in japan

  • @LeoAddiction oh.. than is he too lazy to make it from scratch

  • @Aozakura25 Because thats actually is a green tea ice cream made from scratch without using any vanila , but what he did was basically get a vanilla flavored icream and mixed it with greentea powder,

  • no no no! This vanilla ice cream will take away from the richness of the tea flavor! The haagen daz green tea ice cream is way too creamy/vanilla-ish and nothing like the real matcha green tea ice cream! It is supposed to be real bright green, not light white-ish green. such a huge difference in flavor. some good japanese restaurants will have the real good stuff, but until you try the real stuff, this crap is just ridiculous and will never pass for the real thing!

  • how did he even become a cook???

  • @pausethe

It may surprise you to know that many Japanese people love matcha with vanilla ice-cream.

  • So great to see Matt doing a demo. He is a great character and a pleasure to see in action!!

  • are you kidding me .. you call your self a chef ...

its store bought ice cream for crying out loud

  • I'm eating Haagen-Dazs green tea ice cream right now and I don't smell a hint of Vanilla.
