My winter hike up to the summit of Mt Algonquin.

Follow me as I hike to the summit of New York's second tallest mountain and head into the icy alpine summit under windy, near whiteout conditions.

I was armed with a new camera but still horrible at getting good shots. I was running out of batteries near the top and didn't catch nearly what I wanted, such as the large rectangular cairn on the summit. Temperatures at the top were cold, probably around the low negatives, but winds were nearly 40-50MPH. I didn't want to stick around at the summit too long under these conditions. My water bottles were starting to ice up, and my hands were getting numb. But, no excuse for crappy footage. Sorry guys.

  • nice example of biological corridor!

  • great video!!!Did you go that alone?

  • I love re-living these adventures on video. Every day, and every hike in the Adirondacks is always a little bit different.
