A wee bit sad to see the usual religious crap going on for this song, remember no politics involved in this song, and I'm a bluenose but lest we forget that the English invaded just about every land in the world including Ireland which was another place the British had no fuckin right to occupy, but they did cos that was their style, fuck the union and the lies, oppression and genocide that comes with it!
-
@92eire Well our land was occupied by the english many times and we fought them aff tooth and nail until we finally signed the treaty of the union so we would never go to war with each other again. War was a correct way to fight for independence in those days because parliamnet didn't exist. To reunite Ireland, politics is the only way. Blowing people up doesn't make people listen. I support the IRA's ideals, just not killing people to get their message across.

@ShRiNkInGMuShRoOmS how can the irish take the same view when our land was stolen from us.tell me how did the scots get rid of the english.if ireland could of getting independece by politics it would of been a lot earlier than 1921.anytime we tried anything politically with the brits they were put in jail like Charles Stewart Parnell, daniel o connell, napier tandy for example.so that leaves the irish with 2 options sit back and continue to be treated like shit or take up arms.

If anyone wants to see pure naked sectarianism then look no further than the various Loyalist murder gangs that stalked the 6 counties at the height of the troubles. They actually had a stategy called "any taig will do" where they actively sought out Catholic civillians to murder ,at no point did the PIRA ever seek out ordinary Protestants to kill.Anyway there is a peace of sorts at the moment ,lets hope it continues.
-
@Vhintaqe ...What a lot of shite .The PIRA (and any other incarnation of the IRA) were most definately not sectarian.Loyalists wished to drag the Provos into a sectarian war which the Provos done their best to refrain from. Given the PIRA,s capabilities at the height of the troubles you would imagine that for them to plant bombs constantly in Protestant areas wouldnt present a problem. The fact that they never done this surely shows that they had no mind to kill Protestants.

Just so yous all know, I'm a supporter of a united Ireland, and in massive opposition to the the United Kingdom. I support celtic but there is no place for religious bigotry or sectarianism at a football ground (or anywhere for that matter) It's about cheering on your favourite team, not your favourite 'terrorist organisation' or 'freedom fighters' - whichever you choose, it has no place in football. Leave that to politics.
-
It's fucking football. Are we honestly living in the dark ages? Fighting over religion? Christianity teaches to treat others as you would be treated, not treat others terribly if they don't beleive the same things as you. Some of these so called religious people have become to enthralled in the bigotry and care less and less about their religion.I'm a scottish nationalist, I don't want any blood shed on Scottish soil to secure our freedom. Irish nationalists should all take the same view.

@reilly87irl btw the union jack's actually exactly the same that a royal family from hanover (germany ) once had. ahahhahahahahahahahahahah ololololololololololololololol
ololololollllllooooooooooo
@jaked95 the IRA were not anti protestant.
the founder of irish republicanism, wolfe tone, was a protestant, the irish national flag has the green and the orange in it to represent a united ireland.
at the end of the day its people like you who are labeling it as religious.
