This is my 4 year old Andalusian who I'm clicker training. I've been on him a few times now and we are working on the "go forward", "stop/back up" cues and on "stand still in the absence of cues when my body is relaxed."

  • What are you using for treats?

  • @MegF142857 Hi! I mainly used low calorie grass nuts from Simple Systems, as Oto has a bit of a weight problem. I sometimes use chopped up carrots as a special treat and very occasionally some oats as a really special treat. He is a greedy sod and seems to enjoy the training so he accepts grass nuts, even when he could just eat grass instead!

  • I love your videos. I hope to train my little guys this way.

  • @zubbycat Thank you! I'm really glad you like it and good luck with your guys. I'm sure it will go well!

  • Fantastic training:)) No force required just gentle explanations via clicker..such an AWESOME communication tool. I also liked where you explained about taking it back a step, as i think this is imp for people to realise, that this is an imp part of the learning process and not be worried about doing this:)

  • @MultiAnimalcrackers Thank you! I'm really glad you liked it. x

  • this is a wonderful video!! thank you so much for sharing it!

  • A fantastic demonstration and detailed video, of what you are doing.

It also helps to explain 'how' we can all 'break down' the teaching of every little bit of each behaviour, which we are teaching our horse, so that he can 'understand' what you are asking him to do.

Roz, I really love how easily Oto is picking up on what YOU are teaching him, love the lean back and I look forward (hopefully) to more future videos ! :o)
