so... i guess i understand more of what the LHC is for but there was still some stuff in there that went way over my head... i had to watch the Higgs field/boson bit 3 times just to catch everything they were saying. particle physics, you so craaaaazy.

Do the public (or these scientists) know what a theory is?

These people are literally playing 'god' and that's really not wise.
If its true and this particle thing has been happening for over 4 billion years, then why do they need to build this machine?
I believe they might not be telling us the whole story............

These people were not alive, or were children during the atomic weapons program.
Of the 3000 scientists studying atomic energy, only ~30 knew they were designing a weapon.
The rest were told they were working on making a new energy source, so as to free up oil for the war effort.
And then theres Edward Teller, a man insistent on (AFTER THE WAR) designing a nuclear FUSION device (1000x more powerful then a fission bomb used on hiroshima/nagasaki), so "Russia doesn't get there first"
